Gestalt Therapy

Gestalt Therapy

Gestalt Therapy was founded by a German psychiatrist named Frederick (¨Fritz¨) S. Perls and his wife Laura Perls, German psychologist in the 1940s. This approach to therapy is humanistic and holistic, taking into consideration of ¨here and now¨, awareness of the present moment, and individual responsibility to address healing and personal needs. Change is believed to happen in the ¨here and now¨ awareness and the experience of being alive at the moment which is held safely by the therapist for healing to unfold. One intervention that is commonly used with this approach is called ¨empty chair ¨.
